The endometrial ablation procedure has revolutionized womens medical health care.It is a great option to present to the right patient for heavy menstrual bleeding or painful periods.

An ablation can be done in the office with local anesthesia and minimal recovery time. In fact, most people go back to work the next day.

As with any procedure there are risks. However, most are very rare.

Bleeding and infection are possible. Rarer but more serious side effects are rupture of the uterus and electrical burns to other organs.

It is EXTREMELY important NOT to get pregnant after an ablation. Women have died in pregnancy after an ablation. Therefore, I require at least one of the partners to be sterilized.

There are also patients who do NOT match the reasons to do an ablation. You must seek the care of a healthcare provider if you have very heavy menses.
